Torque teno sus virus (Torque teno virus, TTV)

In pigs, torque teno virus was initially associated with the wasting syndrome related to circovirus but today its importance is unknown.

Description

There are two species of torque teno virus (TTV1 and TTV2) that infect pigs. These viruses were initially associated with porcine circovirus and with the postweaning multisystemic wasting syndrome. Today its epidemiology and its importance is still unknown.

Causes / Contributing Factors

  • Maybe associated with porcine circovirus.

 

Diagnosis

  • Identification of the virus by PCR.
