The Russian Minister of Agriculture has presented the guidelines of the especial federal program for the eradication of African swine fever in Russian territory.
In the meeting, during which the program was presented, special attention was given to the control of the transportation of live animals, by-products, and feed and cereals destined for animal consumption from areas that are not free of African swine fever, like the southern federal communities and Northern Caucasia, where 70 contaminated premises were found, including 64 individual swine farms.
The decision was also made to organize sanitary and veterinary positions to be equipped with special disinfecting barriers in the southern federal communities and Northern Caucasia, as well as the provinces of Vorónezh and Saratov, in order to treat the wheels of vehicles and the shoes of passengers, as well as premises suited for temporary animal housing and merchandise subject to veterinary inspection.
