U.S.-China tariff modifications
The U.S. will temporarily reduce tariffs on Chinese imports, with China agreeing to reduce retaliatory duties.
On May 12, trade officials from the United States and China announced that the U.S. will, for a period of 90 days, reduce tariffs on Chinese imports from 145% to 30%, with China agreeing to reduce retaliatory duties from 125% to 10%.
According to the U.S. Meat Export Federation (USMEF), although this is a temporary measure, it could represent a first step toward restoring access for U.S. pork and beef to the Chinese market.
