Associate professor in the College of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Lleida, UdL.
Professor for the Swine Health and Production Master's program at the University of Lleida, the Complutense University of Madrid, and the University of Zaragoza.
He was born in Barcelona in 1969, and graduated from the College of Veterinary Medicine/Science at Bellaterra, UAB (Barcelona) in 1992, specializing in Animal Production. In October of 1992 he started working in the pig sector at an integrator company (Leridana de Piensos) in Lleida. During this same time he studied the Master of Pathology and Swine Production at the UAB (February 1993- October 1995)
In 1996 he continued his professional career in Vall Companys, working in different departments within the area of pig production. Initially his work was to start large sow nuclei and implement production in three phases. He coordinated teams of management experts in finishing barns and teams of veterinarians in sow barns.
From 2002 to 2003 he worked for Mevet, a veterinary drug laboratory belonging to Grupo Vall Companys, as the sales director.
Since October 2003 he has been an independent consultant for pig companies and an advisor as the Field Coordinator of the Aujeszky Eradication Program, for the Ministry of the Environment, Rural and Marine Affairs.
In 2004 he founded Technical Support Consulting, and Suppor & Formap, companies dedicated to the field of comprehensive consulting for pig companies.
In 2019, he founded Finestra Veterinarians Advisers S.L., a company focused on efficient production in intensive livestock farming, which encompasses health, management, and personnel training aspects to optimize results. It carries out field tests for companies in the pharmaceutical, food, and livestock material sectors.
They maintain a strong commitment to sustainability by implementing environmental audits. They are specialists in animal welfare, auditing pig farms under the Welfare Quality seal.
His latest specialization is in ecological swine production.
Albert Finestra is a member of various professional associations (The Official College of Veterinarians of Lleida, of which he is a member of the Board of Directors, the Association of Swine Veterinarians of Aragon and Catalonia, and ANAPORC).
He has published articles in several specialized journals and has spoken at several national and international conferences.
He has carried out the technical direction of a popular swine journal, as well as directed numerous congresses for swine technicians.
